Utility operators reach BIM goals faster with new Bentley software
Bentley Systems, Inc. has introduced its Bentley Utilities Designer, design and GIS-based management software with built-in access to its MicroStation infrastructure modeling platform and Bentley Map-based design editor to help electric, gas, water, and wastewater utility network operators-owners reach building information modeling (BIM) objectives.
“With Bentley Utilities Designer, utility owner-operators can reap the many BIM benefits that provide competitive advantage in the marketplace and result in increased returns on investment,” said Richard Zambuni, Bentley global marketing director, geospatial and utilities.
Exton, Pa.-based Bentley said the new software accelerates brownfield and greenfield layout by combining GIS-neutral, engineering-grade design, on-the-fly cost estimation, design management, and a utility-specific GIS into a single product.
Reduce the total cost of engineering software ownership. provides owner-operators the option to consolidate design and GIS-based management into a single license and application for simplified training, deployment, maintenance, and enterprise system integration.
Bentley Utilities Designer will greatly reduce the complexity of our Bentley software installations and investments, allowing us to more cost-effectively and efficiently maintain and administer the capabilities required for electric, gas, and water engineering design, installation, and mapping operations,” said Ronald McLeroy, PE, manager of technical services, Huntsville Utilities, in Huntsville, Ala.
